One moment /7:40 AM
One moment of quiet introspection.Mel had been reflecting upon the events of this day and even Mel as the believer that she is, is not exempt from the troubles of this world.
Once, someone asked her. "If your God is so great, why does he allow evil in this world?"
Quite naturally being the Mel that she was, Mel was stumpped.
"If my God is so great, why does he allow evil in this world?"
That's a good question. God is great isn't he? So why?
Why does he allow people to go about hurting others, brutalizing them, backstabbing them, and biting them with words? Why does he allow people to hurt themselves with demoralised thoughts, with self-inflicted wounds, with additions, drugs, alcohol, cigarettes? Why does he allow people to destory this earth, polluting it, leeching off its resources and wiping out its inhabitants?
Why doesn't he wipe these evil people out? Why won't he show himself to us? Maybe if he did everyone would be so awstruck by his power, they'd turn from their own ways. Or why doesn't he just snap his fingers and make the whole world good?
If God is so great, then why?
Mel was very stumpped.
One day she was sitting down with a few other people in the church one very late night, listening to the elder speaking.
"Why doesn't God come to meet us face to face? Our God is so great that we cannot look into his face. We'd be so awstruck we'd simply be dead! Why then does God allow evil people in this world? Well, because God is a loving God, a God who works on a voluntary basis. He wants people who come to him because they love him and not because he's scared the daylights out of them. So why doesn't God snap his fingers and make the whole world good? What's so good about goodness if you've never known what evil is like?"
Isn't it true? Many people think their life is good enough and they don't believe that they need a God! Therefore, even though these few days have not been entirely easy for Mel, she will not take them as some rubbish that the world has decided to hurl at her. Instead she will take it as a reminder to lean on the only one who will never leave her.
What a long and lonely roadWhat a long and lonely dayWhat a large and lovely feelingHe's been there... He's been there... Every step of the way~Melissa~
